Program
details

This course definitely exceeded my expectations. I learned a lot about perception and observation, but also so much more

—The School of Seeing Participant

the art of seeing seminar
core course for individuals

Across 35 hours, participants engage in sessions that combine observation, reflection, and dialogue. The emphasis is not on theory, but on practice—learning to see more, differently and broadly by noticing subtle details, questioning immediate interpretations, and refining how meaning is constructed.

The seminar is an active training environment based on calibrated art methods, which build perceptual abilities in addition to isolated insight. The program is intentionally limited in size to maintain depth and focus.

the art of seeing seminar
includes the following:

  • 35 hours of live interactive contact teaching with Anne Willieme, creator and leader of The School of Seeing

  • A compact 5-weekend (Friday evening/Sat.) format that can be integrated in a work schedule

  • Hands-on perceptual, writing and art exercises specifically designed for the course, which are integrated in and in-between sessions

  • Hand-outs for each perceptual module and topic

  • A bibliography

  • Presentation of up to 50 artworks along with art historical information in addition to guided perceptual looking

  • An optional private 45-minute coaching session to address your personal needs during the seminar

  • Perceptual strategies that can be used beyond the seminar

  • Email access in between sessions for the duration of the seminar

Over five weekends, participants will experience a full professional immersion—gaining tools, frameworks, and perspectives designed for immediate application in leadership, professional, healthcare, and academic contexts.

Founding cohort participants will benefit from early access to the program at this rate; future cohorts will be priced higher as the program evolves. This seminar is intended for professionals committed to deep engagement, reflection, and the practical application of insights in their life and work.

1:1 sessions

Participation begins with a short conversation to ensure fit.

A series of focused 1:1 sessions applying The Art of Seeing methods to your specific work and challenges. Using art-based techniques, we work directly with your real-world situations, such as decisions, challenges or recurring patterns, to examine how perception is shaping your outcomes and goals.

The 1:1 helps you:
- Apply structured observation to your specific challenges
- Identify perceptual patterns in your thinking and communication
- Examine assumptions in live, real-world contexts
- Translate insight into practical applications

This format allows you to see how perceptual patterns show up in your work/daily life and provides tools for a direct application of perception-based solutions.

two ways into the work

The two programs are two entry points into The School of Seeing’s perceptual work:

  • 1:1 — applied understanding of your own patterns

  • Seminar — systematic training of perception as an applicable capability

Some participants begin with 1:1 sessions. Others move directly into the seminar. Both paths are valid depending on timing and readiness.

For those who move from the 1:1 into the seminar, a credit of $300 is applied towards the 35-hour program.

If you are interested in joining the seminar or exploring the 1:1 engagement, an initial conversation is the first step. This ensures alignment with the nature of the work and appropriate fit for the format.
